The ProTec team is composed of handpicked, highly motivated and extremely talented individuals who excel at delivering world class service and instruction in technical cave diving in Mexico and abroad. The ProTec Team is not only composed of divers, we have a full powerhouse behind us that really makes ProTec Mexico’s Premier Cave Diving Facility. Patrick
Patrick is from Austria and is one of the owners of ProTec Dive Centers. He is a PSAI Instructor Trainer for CCR Cave, DPV, Trimix and Sidemount and holds Instructor Trainer Evaluator Status for certain levels. He is one of the creators of the PSAI CCR Cave class and the codesigner of the XDeep Stealth 2.0 and Sidewinder II.
Kim
Kim was born in Sweden and is one of the owners of ProTec Dive Centers. He can be found mostly in Tulum running the shop and the Basecamp accommodation. He teaches all levels of cave diving certifications and various specialties. Kim has lived and worked in Tulum since 2003. His true passion in life is cave exploration.
Rosalba
Rosalba, a Mexican native, and one of the owners of ProTec Dive Centers, is the Administrative director for our company. Rosalba has worked at ProTec since the opening and knows the shop inside out. She has met and worked with hundreds of technical divers in the area. Rosalba is also studying a degree in Management and has a family business.
Jake
Skanda
When he is not traveling the world diving caves, he is at home in Tulum, hiking the jungle to find new caves and teaching the next generation of cave divers how it’s done. Skanda is one of the most active explorers in Mexico.

Tamara
Born and raised in Quintana Roo, naturally Tamara has grown up in and around the water. The Mexican cave instructor in our team; she has a passion for diving that is infectious. She teaches in Spanish, English and French.

The man behind the lens! Hailing from Madrid, Alvaro is our professional in-house photographer and an awarded international photographer. You can find his amazing work throughout our social media channels.
Steve
Steve is from the US, he has been coming to ProTec for a few years, he joined our team in 2022 after a couple trips as a cave student. Steve has a passion for the less traveled cave lines!
Maria
Maria is originally from Kamchatka, grew up in Ukraine, and first moved to Mexico in 2014 for cave diving. She is passionate about caves both dry and flooded, and always curious to explore the new ones.
Marc
He is from Switzerland and joined us in 2022. Marc grew up in Zurich, Switzerland, You can now find him at ProTec bright and early packing to go on a dive or guiding in his favorite spots.
Alessandro
Alessandro is Italian, from Verona. He is looking forward to become a cave instructor with ProTec. He has experience in outdoor sports and rescue.
Nelson
Nelson is Rosalba’s brother and Tulum’s store manager. Known and loved for his infectious smile and great attitude, Nelson will always go out of his way to help.
Melqui
Rebeca
She is our housekeeper, the shop, compressor room and Basecamp are always tidy thanks to her. She may be quiet but will always greet you with a smile and will make sure the shop is spotless every day.
Néstor
He is Rosalba’s youngest brother and Playa’s store manager. Néstor learned to run the shop on the job, with great influence from his siblings and colleagues, he has become essential to the operations in Playa.
Carlos
Carlos is based out of our Tulum shop, he learned the ropes with his sister, Rosalba, in Playa Del Carmen, he ensures the shop is running like clockwork and the filling station runs on the clock.
Tío
He is in charge of building services and spends his time between Playa and Tulum making sure our facilities are always on point!
