ProTec Playa del Carmen
Where it all began. ProTec Playa Del Carmen has been at the forefront of cave and technical diving since 2001, developing some of the highest training standards the diving industry has ever seen. Over the years, some of the most skilled and accomplished divers in the world have trained here. ProTec Playa Del Carmen is located within walking distance from the famous “5th Avenue” and a huge choice of restaurants, bars, nightlife, shopping and world class, white sandy beaches.
ProTec Playa del Carmen offers diver, instructor and instructor trainer training, guiding services and support for visiting cave and rebreather divers, two classrooms, and a full retail shop. Our shop is well-stocked with all the dive equipment needed for cave diving. We have different types of CO2 absorbent in stock for our CCR Rebreather divers: 797 Sofnolime, Spherasorb and Intersorb Plus.
Don’t feel like bringing everything with you? We have plenty of rental dive gear to choose from, including Rebreathers and DPVs. We also offer photography and video services and expedition support upon special request.
Our Facilities
Our custom designed dive center was built with technical divers in mind.
We provide:
- Gear storage
- Air conditioned classrooms and retail area
- Battery charging area with current stabilizers
- Washing and drying area for suits
- Large selection of Sidemount and Double DIN valved rental tanks in aluminum or steel
- CCR Room with rinsing area and storage
- Nitrox 32 as standard mix (air and other mixes on request)
- O2 handheld analyzers
- Pure Oxygen up to 3000psi/200bar
Please note: We do not fill unknown tanks with oxygen or any other gas. All tanks are subject to inspection, and certification cards are needed for certain fills or tank rentals.
Accommodations
Our students and guests often find it convenient and budget friendly to stay in Mom’s Hotel, which happens to house ProTec Playa del Carmen. With its central location (minutes from Playa’s busy 5th Avenue and Walmart), air conditioned, wifi and daily housekeeping, it’s the perfect choice for the dedicated diver. Imagine rolling out of bed and taking 5 steps into the dive shop. Mom’s Hotel also has a swimming pool for equipment checks or practice.
