Cristian Toro-Mazote

Cristian Toro-Mazote, widely known as “Toro,” was Born in Chile. His adventure began in 2005 when he first plunged into the chilled waters of the Pacific Ocean during his Open Water course. Little did he know that this initial experience would lead to a remarkable career and a deep connection with the world beneath the waves.

For the next few years, Toro dedicated his weekends to exploring the underwater sites off the coast of Chile, immersing himself in the breathtaking marine world.

His ambition to become an instructor and explore the world’s most stunning dive destinations soon became a reality. After successfully completing his Divemaster Course, he decided to leave Chile and to become a PADI Instructor. He then moved to Cozumel, Mexico, to start his first Instructor job at a bustling dive center where he quickly made the position of Base Leader.

While in Cozumel, Toro had the chance to embark on an unforgettable adventure: a day’s visit to the Cenotes south of Playa Del Carmen. He was impressed by the surreal and otherworldly beauty of these underwater caves, especially the halocline, a boundary where salt and freshwater meet.

After a season of teaching back  in Chile, Toro traveled to Asia. Yet, he couldn’t shake off the allure of the Cenotes. In 2010 Toro returned to Mexico and  underwent extensive training, evolving into a Full Cave and Technical Diver, which enabled him to venture deeper into these captivating caves and work as a Cavern and Cave Guide.

In 2018, Toro faced health challenges due to a car accident in his youth and took a break from diving. Fortunately, in 2021, Toro was invited to join the team again, in a management role.
