Alessandro Totola

Alessandro was born and raised in Verona, Italy. He is funny and loyal, he likes to laugh and shares moments with friends.

Ale began to swim before talking and walking. At 8 months he showed the other kids in the swimming pool how not to be afraid of the water. Since then, he has never stopped swimming.

For many years he was dedicated to competitive swimming and water polo. He enjoys beach volleyball, wakeboarding, freediving and anything on the beach or near the sea.

He started scuba diving at age 15 when his uncle introduced him to diving. After obtaining the Open water certification in Egypt, he dived in the cold and murky Lake Garda, the training ground for most divers in Northern Italy.

Ale knew what his path was but a few years passed between normal jobs and everyday life before he could follow his calling. Diving remained a strong hobby in his life which led him to follow an instructor on Facebook, his talk about the Hoghartian configuration helped Ale jump to tec diving immediately.

“THE” decision came during a dive trip to Thailand. It’ s now or never, he thought. With his 28th birthday coming up, he returned home and devoted himself to completing his training as a diving instructor. At the end of the same year he began his new career in Portugal.

The Covid pandemic kept him in Italy but he continued with diving and training during the lokdown. Caves were his latest discovery and Mexico was the next destination.

During a visit to Q.Roo he dived the cenotes for the first time. A short week was not enough to discover the incredible and famous world of Mexican cave diving so he came back soon enough to start his own cave journey, he had been looking for a dive center specialized in cave diving aiming to reach a higher level as diver and instructor, and to keep sharing his passion by teaching others.

An Italian friend recommended ProTec, he hasn’t left since. Ale has dived in Mexico, South Africa, Greece, Bahamas, etc.

Some of his ambitions in diving are:

  1. to be part of one exploration-expedition
  2. to be part of a cave search and rescue team
  3. to become an IT
