MARC ANDERES

Marc grew up in Zurich, Switzerland where he spent most of his life. Not having any access to the sea, he spent a lot of his time at the lake or on the local football/soccer pitch.

In 2001 he convinced his mum to organize a Discover Scuba Dive in the cold Lake of Zurich. The intention was to get one step closer to one of his dreams: Seeing sharks face to face. After this first diving experience it took him 3 years to strap on a BCD again. Spending the family vacation on Koh Samui was the perfect opportunity to get the Junior Open Water Certification.

Next to playing football in the local team and watching shark documentaries, Marc started to work in the financial industry and got his Bachelor in Economics. It was a spontaneous trip with his sister and some of her friends in 2017, which made the passion of Scuba Diving grow and finally take over
control of his life. Seeing hundreds of sharks in the waters of French Polynesia marked the beginning of a new passion. Next to the weekly dives in the cold-water lakes of Switzerland, he joined as many dive trips as possible. Fulfilling a dream of diving with Leopard Seals in the Antarctica in early 2020,
made him dive every continent.

After quitting his job as a relationship manager for an international Swiss bank, working in the industry for more than 15 years, he decided to move to the island of Utila (Honduras) and turning his passion into a job. Really enjoying teaching students and introducing them to the wonderful underwater world, Marc lived the Caribbean dream for 1.5 years, working as an Open Water Instructor for UDC.

In early 2022 Marc’s vacation plans, and becoming a full cave diver, turned into a new home. Being trained by Jake and ProTec opened a whole new spectrum and was an eye-opening experience: There is so much more to learn and explore in the world of diving – this is where Marc wanted to be!
So, he flew back to Utila, packed his belongings and moved to Mexico 10 days later together with his Utilian Dog “Honey” and his girlfriend.
