Marc Anderes

Marc grew up in Zurich, Switzerland, where he lived most of his life. In his early years you would find him at the lake or on the local football/soccer pitch.

In 2001, he convinced his mom to organize a Discover Scuba Dive in the cold Lake of Zurich. The intention was to get one step closer to one of his dreams: Seeing sharks face to face. After this first diving experience he had to wait 3 years to strap on a BCD again. Spending family vacation on Koh Samui was the perfect opportunity to get his Open Water Certification.

While watching shark documentaries and dreaming of getting back in the water, Marc started to work in the financial industry and got his Bachelor in Economics. It was a spontaneous trip with his sister in 2017, which made the passion of scuba diving grow and finally take over control of his life. Seeing hundreds of sharks in the waters of French Polynesia marked this beginning. Next to the weekly dives in the cold-water lakes of Switzerland, he joined as many dive trips as possible. While fulfilling a dream of diving with Leopard Seals in Antarctica in early 2020, he also completed another life goal: to dive every continent.

After quitting his job of 15 years as a relationship manager for an international Swiss bank, he decided to move to Utila, Honduras, and turn his passion into a job. Enjoying teaching students and introducing them to the wonderful underwater world, Marc lived the Caribbean dream for 1.5 years, working as an Open Water Instructor for Utila Dive Center. 

In early 2022 Marc’s vacation plans, becoming a full cave diver in Mexico, turned into a new life. Being trained by Jake and ProTec provided a whole new spectrum to him and was an eye-opening experience: there is so much more to learn and explore in the world of diving. This is where Marc wanted to be!
