How long have you been at ProTec?
I started working for ProTec January 2018.
What’s your favourite thing about working at ProTec?
I love getting to meet people from so many different cultural backgrounds. Being able to share my passion for diving with others and being part of a such close-knit team that shares the same goals and mindset.
What is your most memorable moment in diving?
Lots to choose from. I would have to narrow it down to 3.
- Going diving with my brother in Turks and Caicos. He can no longer dive so being able to do that with him was pretty special.
- The first time I was exposed to cave diving in the Dominican Republic. I can remember being completely in awe not only of the cave but also the discipline and mastery needed to do it safely.
- Diving Malazmanga in Madagascar. The sheer size of the passages is insane. When I was diving there I had a feeling that no other cave has given me. I cannot wait to go back.
What is your favourite dive in Mexico?
With so many to choose from its hard to have a favorite but right now I’d have to say the Black Forest line at Muchacos.
What is your teaching philosophy?
Education is not one size fits all. Everybody is different and it’s my job to adapt to the student and meet their needs.
Any advice for people wanting to come and train with us?
Drop us a line! We are happy to talk through any questions you might have. Be realistic about what you want to achieve and remember diving is about having fun – enjoy the learning process!
When not diving what do you do for fun?
I spend lots to time reading diving literature and working on my teaching techniques. I love the challenge of being a teacher and I’m always looking at different ways to refine my classes to make them more easily digestible for students. Completely out of diving I enjoy playing football, basketball and keeping up with English sitcoms.
If you weren’t a diver, what would your profession be?
Most likely in Media. That’s what I did before I left England and started diving again.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Working for ProTec teaching Cave and Technical diving and spending my free time diving my CCR.
If you could have a superpower for one day, what would it be and why?
X ray vision and I’d head to the casino.
