Recently we had the pleasure of working with two Russian groups back to back. One was led by Igor from Kazakhstan and the other by not one but two Sergey’s from Vladimir and Moscow.
The Sergey’s came with 6 people and we had a an amazing amount of different activities ranging from cavern tour, to guided intro to cave dives, to guided full cave dives, to ccr cave crossover, an intro to cave course, an advanced sidemount course and a guided stage photo cave dive. An incredible 10 days!
The group leaders belong to the main divers of the Ordinskaya cave in the Ural mountains and therefore absolutely enjoyed the much warmer water here of our Cenotes =)
It was really a great pleasure and fun to have them here and we had several very interesting discussions about the differences in techniques and procedures between there home environment and Mexico. After all those stories I cant wait to go to Ordinskaya myself and check it out, one thing is for sure, I will be cold!!!
One Sergey was taking the CCR Cave crossover and the other the Advanced Sidemount class which gave me the great opportunity to show them some tips and tricks of the two types of cave diving I love the most! In the same time it gave them a very good idea of how we do things here in the Riviera Maya and it is up to them to see what might be adaptable for cold water cave diving.
The Cavern divers even took one day to go and dive from our boat in Cozumel to enjoy some reef diving there.
All in all everybody was happy and a had a great time, a goal we always try to achieve.
In the same time we had a bunch of CCR Cave Divers using us as their main base of operations so to speak. Ian and Trendy from the Philippines, Ron and Ashley from the US as well as Christoph a fellow Austrian who was here for his CCR Cave Crossover course. A full house so to speak and so the evening hours were spent with many cave diving stories, stick map paintings on the whiteboard and howling booster pumps =) Sometimes until 10pm.
Not to forget Artur who came all the way from Poland to do his Advanced Nitrox Instructor Course, which he passed with flying colors. Congratulations from the entire Protec team and welcome to the IANTD family!
We continue to be busy as hell so stay tuned for some more stories from us and some big announcements!!!
